Soil Health and the California Healthy Soils Program

Join us on October 27 for this educational webinar looking into principles of soil health and soil health practices being applied in California.
Research shows that improving soil health increases carbon sequestration, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, increases drought resilience, enhances water quality, boosts crop yield, increases nutrient availability, provides pollinator habitat, and suppresses many plant diseases (Soil Health Institute). As a result, downstream communities receive cleaner water, ecosystem health is restored, rural landscapes are sustained, and climate change is held in check for future generations.
PSSAC is presenting this online technical session in collaboration with UC Davis Department of Land, Air, and Water Resources and the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) Healthy Soils Program. The session will provide an overview of soil health science, delve into some of the leading-edge research being undertaken at UC Davis’s Soil Biodiversity and Health Lab, explore the California Healthy Soils Program (its background, objectives, and operations), and at take an in-depth look at on-farm management practices supported by the Healthy Soils Program.
